What is hazardous waste?

An item is hazardous when it is:

  • flammable
  • toxic
  • corrosive
  • explosive
  • radioactive.

Common examples include most chemicals, paint, acid and gas cylinders.

Do not put hazardous waste in your roadside rubbish or recycling bin, or down any drain.
